Details

We will start the hike to Deer Mountain from the base of Oldman Mountain off Old Ranger Road which is just west of the Town of Estes Park, CO.  This is a different trailhead/starting point from what most people use when hiking Deer Mountain.

This is a great hike to a summit at a relatively lower elevation with lots of views of the Rockies along the way.The parking is extremely limited at the trailhead off Old Ranger Road so we will first meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center to use the restrooms and then consolidate into as few cars as possible before driving a short distance to the trailhead.

Snowshoes should not be needed for this hike but Microspikes/YakTraks are strongly encouraged.  The trail should be free of snow and ice most of the way but as we approch the summit we may encounter some.  You might also want some trekking poles.

The trip leader has extra trekking poles you can borrow if needed but please let the trip leader know before the day of the hike.Feel free to contact the trip leader with any questions or concerns.
