Details

We should arrive at trailhead and begin our trip by 6:45. The Moon rise begins at 7 pm.  Headlamps may be used but usually the trail is bathed in plenty of full moon light.

I will send an email 3 days before this trip with a trail conditions update. For sure we'll bring our microspikes. Hoping for lots of fluffy snow that the moonlight will make glisten and if so, we may need snowshoes.

Notes

The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, usually B Difficult and C hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents. We may sponsor other activities of interest to our members, everything from bike rides to camping. Although we have members,; our trips are non-exclusive. We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership

TRIP REPORT:
9 of us started the hike (not snowshoe) at 6:45 pm from the Doudy Draw Trailhead. The gate to the Trail was closed and locked with a sign saying "closed due to muddy conditions".
We decided to hop the fence and continue our hike because we could see the trail covered with 1 inch of snow and it was frozen hard. Probably Boulder's open Space folks didn't get around to updating that trail with the changes in the weather. We decided to turn off our headlamps and hiked the entire route by partial moon which was plenty of light since the snow on the trail was very bright. We had 5 single folks and 2 married couples. Everyone very fit and compatible. There were 2 other leaders besides myself. I'd like to do it again.
None of the cars paid the Boulder Open Space fee for non-residents.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
