We'll meet 8:30 a.m. at parking lot for Deer Greek Canyon Park, Jeffco Open Space Park.
Feel free to carpool to TH but it's easier to just meet at TH than to add an extra stop at Wooly.

- From the metro area, travel south on C-470 to Kipling exit. headed south.
- Turn right on W Ute Avenue, then west (right) on Deer Creek Canyon Road.
- Turn left onto Grizzly Drive (Deer Creek Canyon Park sign will be on your right just before you turn left onto Grizzly Drive.).
- Follow the road up the hill and turn right at top into Deer Creek Canyon Park's lot. We'll be at southern end closest  to
the bathrooms, large TH sign and map place.  Real bathrooms here!

Drive is approx 25 mi from Denver's center, less if you come from the south.

Especially for RMOTHG  members. While Deer Creek is beautiful on snowshoes in deep snow, sunshine is predicted for Wed though we may have light snow showers both days before. We'll use spikes (Deer Creek can be icy!), get good exercise for working off December food excesses, and follow a relaxed, casual pace (6.5 mi RT, 1200 ft elevation gain) up Meadlowlark to the Plymouth Creek junction. Then up Plymouth CreekTrail past the biker's infamous rock pile (The Wall), and up a steeper part on Plymouth Mountain Trail to the scenic view at top. This is a difficult A because the trail is rocky and UP (We go slower on the UPs.), especially past Plymouth Creek junction, but it's fun, the terrain is varied, and Deer Creek is a close-by, lovely December outing where you'll want to return if we get a big front range snow!  We'll lunch at scenic view at top among ponderosas, return via Homesteader and back down Plymouth Creek.  PLEASE LOOK FOR TUESDAY EVENING EMAIL for latest info on weather, trail conditions, any changes in meeting time.

Since many of us are super holiday-busy, we probably won't have an after-hike snack or can see how we feel back at TH.

Bring spikes, poles to handle conditions we find. We'll dress for weather predicted (I'll let you know conditions from our scout and current weather in TUES EVE EMAIL so be sure to watch for it.  Bring your usual ten essentials, plenty of water, snacks, lunch. We probably won't need long johns, but weather will detemine that.  Be your usual prepared selves for any weather changes and plan to kick off Snowshoe Season with a Deer Creek Snow Song I may ask you to join me in singing! Or not. Plan on a relaxing, enjoyable December day!

Remember: Though we're going up 1200 feet on a sometimes steeper trail, this is a relaxing, casual-paced spike hike since some of us are trying to regain fitness after Thanksiving excess, football/shopping/decorating mania, and maybe too much time on couches instead of trails. We're starting snowshoe season easy on this hike. Thanks!

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
