Location

From the Herman/Watrous Gulch TH (Exit I-70 Exit 218) we'll head east on the Watrous Gulch trail.    After a mile or two the Bard Creek trail takes off to the east, on the right.  We'll take that trail as far as conditions (weather and avalanche) and our energy allow.   We hope to get out 5 miles, have lunch, then return back to Wattrous Gulch

This is exploratory for the  leaders although we  have passed   this trail junction several times, always wondering how the Bard Creek trail  goes and what it looks like.  Turns out it is 14.2 miles long and the other end's TH is near Empire.  We explored it from the other end but access is over a terrible road, so best to do that end another time.  We'd like to  do a key exchange next summer.

Views of Grays & Torreys and a new perspective on Parnassus and Bard.
