This is a relatively easy snowshoe in Rocky Mountain National Park on New Year's Eve.  From the Bear Lake Trailhead we will go to Bierstadt Lake (Elev. 9,416) and back to Bear Lake.  As the distance is relatively short (4 miles round trip) with very little elevation gain this would be an excellent snowshoe trip for any new CMC members who have never snowshoed before or a great beginning of the snowshoe season trip for more experienced snowshoers.

As this snowshoe is scheduled for New Year's Eve I expect we will finish the snowshoe and be back at the trailhead around 2 PM which will leave plenty of time for those that are coming up from Denver to get back home if you have plans for New Year's Eve.

Great views of the Continental Divide and Longs Peak from Bierstadt Lake.

On Christmas Day the Bear Lake area of RMNP had about 27 inches of snow on the ground.  The trip leader will continue to monitor snow levels and will let participants know of any significant changes.  The trip leader also has extra pairs of snowshoes new CMC members can use if you have not bought snowshoes.  Be sure to let the trip leader know beforehand.

The trip leader has also posted a snowshoe trip that will be a little more difficult (The Loch and MIlls Lake) for Saturday, January 13th if you would like to sign up for that trip as well.

Feel free to contact the trip leader with any questions.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
