This is a snowshoe in Rocky Mountain National Park. Bring your senior park pass if you have one.

If the federal government shuts down, this trip will be changed to another location in the north area with similar mileage and elevation gain, possibly Lost Lake.

Participants from Denver meet at unpaved parking lot on south side of Golden Gate Canyon Road and Hwy 93 at 7:30 a.m.

Carpool up Hwy 93 to Broadway to Hwy 36 to Lyons. Stop at the public restrooms in Lyons for biobreak and to meet Boulder participants. Estimated time of arrival 8:30 a.m..

Participants from Boulder meet at the public restrooms in Lyons for bio break and to meet the Denver group at 8:30 a.m.

From Lyons, caravan to Hallowell Park parking lot. Approximate time of arrival 9:30; on the trail by 9:45 a.m.

From Hallowell Park snowshoe southwest to Mill Creek Basin, cross bridge and head toward Bierstadt Lake. If we loop the lake, we will add another mile. Have lunch and return the way we came. Avalanche danger is low to non-existant along this trail.

Bring snowshoes, poles with baskets, gaiters, microspikes, water, snacks, lunch, warm layers, and 10 essentials. Have a way to fasten your snowshoes to your pack. Plan on 5-6 hours of adventure.

Coffee stop after in Estes Park for those who want to stop, carpool-driver dependent.
