Details

From the Bear Lake Trailhead will head down to the Glacier Gorge trailhead to connect with the "Winter Trail" up to The Loch in RMNP.  From The Loch will will go off trail to a small un-named pond that the locals in Estes Park all know as "Serendipity Pond".  From here we will continue off trail to two other small ponds before snowshoeing back to the Bear Lake Parking Lot.  While we are snowshoeing off trail we will use some GPS waypoints to navigate our way and avoid some potential avalance terrain so be sure to bring your compass to practice setting and following compass bearings.

The total distance should be approximately 6 miles of which about half that distance will be off trail.

Year after year this is always one of everyone's favorite snowshoes.

It can be extremely windy at The Loch so be sure to pack warm clothing and something to break the wind.

Refreshment stop in Estes Park after the snowshoe for those that are interested.

Feel free to contact the trip leader with any questions.
