This snowshoe will be an "exploratory" snowshoe in that the trip leader has never done this route before but we will follow the route as described in this winter's edition of the CMC's Trail & Timberline magazine.  You can read about the route and see pictures in the article which begins on page 18 of the magazine.

We will start at the Warming Hut at the old Hidden Valley ski area and snowshoe up an old ski lift run to Trail Ridge Road.  From Trail Ridge Road we will snowshoe along the road for about 3/4 mile before descending down another old ski lift run back to the Warming Hut.  We WILL NOT climb above Trail Ridge Road to Tombstone Ridge.  According to the article in the Trail & Timberline maganize, there should be great views of The Mummy Range and Mount Ida.  The total distance should be about 3.5 miles with a 1,200 foot elevation gain.

If you are a relatively new CMC member and do not have snowshoes, the trip leader has extra pairs of snowshoes you can borrow but please let me know before the day of the snowshoe.

Refreshment stop in Estes Park after the snowshoe for those that are interested.

Feel free to contact the trip leader with any questions.
