Details

Preference for participation on this trip is for graduates of the December 2017 AIARE I course.

We will carpool from Wooly Mammoth to Idaho Springs. We'll stop for breakfast and review our AIARE "blue book" Trip Plans.

We'll then drive to Berthoud Pass. At the Pumphouse Basin TH, we'll practice the TH beacon check. We'll snowshoe to the Pumphouse Basin area. We will perform avalanche, snowpack, weather observations, and dig/analyze test pits.

If time allows, we'll practice companion rescue techniques.

We'll finalize our trip plan at breakfast.
