This is St Vrain North Fork country east of Allenspark and west of Lyons.  You may know of Button Rock preserve and dam but we are going up Button Rock Mountain and, nearby, the actual "Button Rock".  Some of the hike is on a rough FS road which is closed to motorized recreation till June.  FS-118.2 leaves the Big Elk Meadows road and climbs toward Button Rock Mtn.  We eventually leave the road for bushwack to both the summit (8450') and the rock (8039').  Scrambling is required onto the "rock" and we may not be able to reach the tip top.  Here is a nice pic and comment

From other pics on this link it looks like great views of the Front Range.  I could find no CMC trip to this destination in the last ten years.  As of early February this year 8500 ft elevation has seen no snow accumulation.  Therefore, I consider this a hike unless we get a really big snow in the next week and a half.  I will decide what to do if and when that happens because last  winter did see snow here.  The exact trip is exploratory for the leader although he is familiar with the area in general.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
