Details

For RMOTHG members.  We recently discovered Peaks Trail, a lovely path and locals favorite starting in Frisco at approx 9000 ft, meandering through wetlands and aspen to a frozen Rainbow Lake and then up a bit to continue Peaks Trail with beautiful mountain vistas all the way to Breck. We're NOT going to Breck but only two miles uppish and back for approx total 4 to 4.5 miles, elev gain approx 400 ft, at a SLOW, CASUAL PACE to enjoy scenery -- lots here!  The trail to Rainbow Lake is easy, starts near houses, and then we feel "away" on mostly flat trail gently trending up and wandering next to a creek, over a few bridges, and surrounded by aspen to a frozen lake. You'll wonder why snowshoes on this part, but we'll go to side of trail here as it's gorgeous and more fun so plan on shoeing in snow (You can clatter on path if you choose!). Past Rainbow Lake, we head UP Peaks Trail, the moderate part because Peaks has more snow, it's uppish and narrower (We spiked it on the scout -- not easy as we postholed lots!). Spectacular mountain views keep us going! Peaks is a beautiful trail and we look forward to sharing it with you! LOOK FOR TUESDAY EVENING EMAIL for last minute changes in time, place, et. al.!

Notes

Bring spikes and snowshoes as we won't know conditions till we arrive (We count on your usual fexibility!).  Also bring your usual essentials, winter gear, extra snacks/lunch, lots of water, poles for trekking in snow on flat parts and for upper Peaks trail. Don't forget first aid kit, your ID/MEDS/INFO. Please let Elaine know if you have any medical or injury conditions that can affect you or us on the trail.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
