*   ORIGINAL TRIP DESCRIPTION

********************************************

* To REGISTER  email me with your fitness level, but please be precise. So for example if you hike/run/bike/walk, please be precise and tell me when, how much, how fast, how often.

* We should start before 530am to be done by 1230-ish.

* This is an "experiment" Friday trip to avoid Saturday crowds so i will coordinate some sort of carpool later. If there are not too many people interested in a Friday trip , i might move this to Saturday.

* Saturday i think some people could do the "Maroon Bells Loop" aka "4 passes loop" as an NON cmc trip. Google it, it is spectacular.

* If you are accepted on this trip ( meaning you are currently in shape and have done similar hikes ) then i am sure you can read all the hike details here https://www.14ers.com/route.php?route=cast1&peak=Castle%20Peak ; That being said, later on, i will set up an online document with ALL the details we need

* Some climb times https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/timesmain.php?route=cast1&parmpeak=Castle%20Peak

* The total nr of participants will depend if we can find an experienced co-leader. Ideally i would like a few people with medical experience and maybe another CMC leader. That is why I will wait maybe a week or two for people to pre-register and then i will decide. I am gonna favor CMC leaders ( 1 extra points ); if you have Wilderness First Aid or similar ( 1 extra point ) ; if we co-lead before ( 1 extra point )

* This is a D-moderate ( and not easier/lower) because if we do not have a 4WD car , the hike is a real D trip

* Mandatory gear ... which is ... whatever you need to be comfortable standing still for an hour in the rain at 13,000 feet this time of the year. PLUS MICROSPIKES

* 4,600' and 13.5mi or 3,100ft if you start at 11,200' and 7mi

* Thoughts ? Comments ? Suggestions ? Please DO email me.

*end

1 - I usually wait til 3-4 days before a trip to start sending out emails. By then we know the weather and many people cancel and other people move in from the waitlist

2 - All the hike details about the hike are here https://www.14ers.com/route.php?route=cast1&peak=Castle%20Peak

3 - Let's meet at 515am here at the "Castle Creek Trailhead" , direct link https://goo.gl/maps/t99squTKCD52 , description <<From Aspen, take Castle Creek from the roundabout just west of the center of Aspen. Drive 12.5 miles (paved) to the Castle Creek trailhead. We meet here ( where the paved road ends and we need to take the dirt Forest Road (FR) 102 )>>

4 - I will be probably car camping at the trailhead, so since i am not driving the morning of i cannot organize a carpool from Denver. **But** if you are interested in getting a ride , please SEND AN EMAIL to Bogie-CMC-Aug-17-18@GoogleGroups.com , and see who comes from where

5 - Also if you are interested, there is still room for the Saturday trip to LaPlata

6 - As always , bring enough clothing to stand still for an hour at 13,000 while raining

So this is the meeting point
