What better way to celebrate our public lands that are such an integral part of Colorado's unique identity than by improving access to them! Though this date is one week before the official NPLD day we will be celebrating early by building new trail in Buena Vista Colorado on BLM managed land.
This awesome service project is part of a larger partnership between The Town of BV, local stakeholder groups, the BLM, and CMC to improve recreational opportunities for local residents and the many visitors of the Upper Arkansas Valley. The new Overlook Trail will add to the overall function of the Midland Hill Trail System by providing an experience appropriate for beginner mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, and equestrians, and creating several new loop options with the existing trails.
Please be at the parking area by 9:00 a.m. for a general introduction to the project, the tools we will use, and techniques we will utilize to build new sustainable trails. There is no experience necessary and we will have a variety of work projects available to accommodate multiple levels of physical ability. Lunch will be provided as well as great local brews after the workday generously donated by Eddyline Brewing.
Tools and equipment will be provided by CMC and the BV Trails group however volunteers should be prepared with closed toed sturdy shoes or boots, work gloves, safety glasses or sunglasses, and enough water for a few hours working in the Colorado sun.
This trip involves volunteer driven trail work with CMC's Stewardship Team and public land agencies near Buena Vista, Colorado. To learn more about the CMC Stewardship Team visit https://www.cmc.org/Conservation/Stewardship/StewardshipTeam.aspx
