BLACK BEAR TRAIL IS A NEW TRAIL, OPENED ABOUT Aug 2018.  Meet at Hildebrand Ranch and do a short car shuttle (or leader may arrange a key shuttle) to Deer creek canyon park.

Hike starts at Hildebrand ranch, connects to new trail Black Bear (6.3 mi) and finish at Deer Creek Canyon. Once on Black Bear trail, we cross over a couple of rock ridges, and there's a flat area for 1 mi or so then climb up trails in Deer Creek Canyon and onto Plymouth Mt trails.

This is exploratory because leader has hiked 5 mi of this route from Hildebrand Ranch side, done Deer creek canyon trails on other occasions, but there's a piece in the middle leader hasn't done.

see above, we will start at HIldebrand Ranch, take Two Brands trail 1.6 mi to new trail-Black Bear Trail 6.3 mi to Deer Creek Canyon. We exit into Deer Creek canyon trail, will hike down Plymouth Mt trail and Plymouth creek tr to Deer Creek canyon and the park lot. return to hildebrand trhd in cars.

If key exchange is set up than other group will do reverse of above.



see details above. Be prepared for cold weather, bring headlight for incase we finish in dark. However this is not expected. Microspikes may be beneficial if there is recent snow or suspected ice. Leaders carries microspikes all winter--"be prepared"




*This is a Bobcats trip. The Bobcats' mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially "B Difficult" and "C" hikes and Difficult snowshoes, for our mostly age 50+ constituents.
