Greenland Ranch is a Douglas County Open Space park between Denver and Colorado Springs along I-25.  This hike is on the open prairie but we will encounter some tree and rocky areas on the ten mile loop trail.  The trail elevation profile is up and down but the grades are easy.  Views of the Rampart Range to the west and Pikes Peak to the south.

This is a CMC "B class" hike meaning it is 8-12 miles long and 1200-2500 feet of elevation gain.  From the elevation gain given above you see that the 700 ft gain of this hike is less than 1200 ft.  Less than 1200 ft is an "A class" hike.  But the hike is always the higher class (in this case "B") if the distance and elevation gain are in different classes.  I have hedged toward the "A" class designation by declaring this an "easy-B" hike.  In general "A" class hikes are easiest and "B","C",and "D" class hikes get progressively harder.  If this is all confusing come with me and I will (try to) explain all the other confusing aspects of CMC classifications and culture!

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
