The Ken Caryl Valley trails are 'residents only' trails, but since I am a resident, I can invite guests and we can hike in this area.  This is likely to be a rare chance for you to visit these excellent trails that rival anything the Jeffco Open Space System has to offer.

We will begin hiking up the Manor House Trail situated at about 6200 feet and continue uphilll about 4 miles along the Bradford Trail to the summit of Tin Cup Hill at 7864 feet.  We travel through some interesting ecosystems - Grasslands - Scrub Oak - Ponderosa Pins/Douglas FIr - Aspen groves.

The overall hike distance is 8.5 miles with a total elevation gain of 2300 feet according to CalTopo.  Here is a link to the map of our hike:

There are two nice picnic areas and we will chose one of them for our lunch break.  We will return to our cars via two interesting trails that form a nice loop - the Shaffer Trail and the Lost Canyon Trail.

We will bring Micro-Spikes as a precautionary measure and use them if necessary.
