Denver area participants will meet at Coors Tek Lot across from the CMC building in Golden in time for a  6:30 am departure.  I will need a Denver carpool leader.

Northern area participants may meet in Lyons near the public restroom in Sandstone Park on Railroad Ave. at 7:20 am.  The regular Park n Ride area is under construction so you will need to park on East side of restrooms.

Your trip leader will be meeting you in Lyons.  We will consolidate carpool there as necessary

Participants must have microspikes and snowshoes and know how to attach them to their backpack if needed.  Pace will be steady due to the shorter days, expect to be on the trail for up to 8 hours.

Please have ALL 10 ESSENTIALS and be prepared for any weather conditions.

I will email participants 2 days before the trip with extra information.  If you do not receive an email, you must contact me as I have occasionally had people say they did not receive one.

Fern Lake Trail is a relatively uncrowded hike to a scenic mountain lake accessed from the Moraine Park area on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail follows the Big Thompson River offering great views of Fern Falls, Notchtop Mountain and the Little Matterhorn from Fern Lake's north side.

All participants sign up with the knowledge that their contact information may be shared with the other hike participants for transportation related reasons.

*This is a Bobcats trip. The Bobcats' mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially “B Difficult” and “C” hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents. We may sponsor other activities of interest to our members, everything from bike rides to camping. Although we have members, we don’t have dues or elections, and our trips are non-exclusive. We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership. To join our free mailing list, write Membership Services at or call them at (303) 279-3080.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
