Details

Course Objectives:



The objectives of the Rock Scrambling class are to:




  1. Improve students’ ability to move safely and efficiently on Class 3/4 routes

  2. Provide students the opportunity to gain confidence when climbing with exposure

  3. Have fun!



Schedule:




  • Wednesday 8 May 2019 5:30 pm – 8:00pm – Instructional session at Ute Valley Park

  • Saturday 11 May 2019 7:30 am – 10:00 am – Field outing on a route that will allow students to practice what they learned on Wednesday.



Prerequisites:



Students must have basic mountaineering knowledge, skills and experience, such as that taught in the CMC BMS Wilderness Fundamentals class.  Students should have experience hiking Class 2 alpine routes and know how to equip themselves with the essentials for a day in the mountains.   



Registration:



The class is open to CMC members with instructor approval.  To register, send an email to David at navsareneverlost@gmail.com providing the following information:




  1. A short description of your climbing experience (list peaks you’ve climbed in the past year)

  2. A list of any mountaineering classes you have taken

  3. An assessment of your current level of fitness

  4. What you would most like to get out of this class



Once accepted into the class, you must pay the $45 course fee.  There is a $10 cancellation fee if you cancel before 2 May 2019.  There will be no refunds after 2 May, 2019.




Notes

 

Once you have registered for this class on Wednesday, you must also register for the trip on Saturday, 11 May, 2019. This is the field session.

  • Refunds are issued for cancellations made up to two weeks prior to the start of the program. There is a $10.00 cancellation fee. NO REFUNDS IN LAST TWO WEEKS OR FOR NO SHOWS
