On this segment we'll have some of the prettiest views on the entire trail. The canal snakes around two preserved areas, the Cat Anderson Quincy's Historic Farm and the Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve, as it makes its way through Cherry Hills. We'll learn about the biological and historical impact of the trail on this area (Don't cut down the cottonwoods) while ambling about the beautiful vistas and how Mamie Eisenhower's retirement were thwarted (might look that up). This is our longest segment on the Canal.

P.S. The High Line canal starts in Waterton Canyon and meanders through the metro area all the way to DIA. The is walking the whole 71 miles one segment at the time - 14 of them. Each segment has its own history and views. Check it out if your interested.

Also check out the High Line Canal Conservancy and Denver Water for more information.

A recommended book: The Thunder Tree: Lessons from an Urban Wildland by Robert Michael Pyle, 1993.

Bring snacks, water, warm clothing and micro spikes as it might be icy on parts of the trail.
