Join the Colorado Mountain Club Fort Collins Group for a great presentation by Tom Chapel on Avalanche Awareness. Tom will discuss safe travel, companion rescue, the Larimer County Search & Rescue, CAIC resource and evolving avalanche safety gear.

Tom is a member and trip leader with the CMC. He is a Search Leader, Snow Leader, R2 Technical Rescue Technician, and Lifetime Member with the Larimer County Search and Rescue Team. He has AIARE Level 2 Avalanche certification, has a passion for the outdoors, and enjoys using his knowledge and experience to help others enjoy the backcountry safely.

Tom’s mountaineering experience ranges from single-day endurance projects like “The Grand Slam” on Longs Peak to mountaineering expeditions including Denali and other peaks in North America, Mexico, and Australia. Current projects include summiting the named and ranked peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park, State High Points, an upcoming trip to Kilimanjaro on January 26, 2019, and skiing the “Powder Ghost Towns” of Colorado.
