The Jim Creek trail head is just off of US 40. You'll see a wooden sign with trail information. The first 2.5 mi of the trail is generally packed and not very steep. The next 1.5 miles is steeper and usually does not see much traffic so we may not have an established track to follow depending on recent snowfall. This section of the trail winds through forest with some downfall obstacles and then finally opens up in some glades higher in the Jim Creek Basin. We'll decide as a group how far up the trail we want to go.

*This is a Bobcat trip. The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially “B Difficult” and “C” hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents.  Although we have members, our trips are non-exclusive.  We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership. To join our mailing list, write or call CMC Membership Services at: or (303) 279-3080.

We will avoid potential avalanche terrain so not avalanche equipment is needed. Bring your snowshoes and poles along with warm and waterproof clothing. Remember your 10 Essentials and bring plenty of water and food. Contact the trip leader if you have any medical conditions that we should be made aware of.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
