TELEMARK SKIERS, beginners to intermediate--Need some backcountry telemark practice? This ski tour is designed to help 2019 and prior Telemark Ski School (TSS) students who ski green and easy blue runs to get "out there" and practice their telemark skiing techniques in the backcountry. Telemark ski lessons "on-piste", either thru CMC Telemark Ski School or a ski area are HIGHLY recommended before this trip. "Tele hill" is within a mile from trailhead, and students will ski "laps" to practice turns. Leader is a TSS instructor and will provide telemark tips and instruction. Expect a "casual" uphill-climbing pace as the group will take frequent breaks to discuss safe backcountry winter travel that includes routefinding & trailbreaking, avalanche avoidance, snow/weather conditions, and telemark equipment for backcountry use. You do NOT need avalanche equipment for this tour; but if you have it, carry it. Remember skis & skins, boots, poles, pack, food, water, extra warm clothing, and sunscreen. 1st NOTE: This shouldn't be your first ski tour into the backcountry this season. 2nd NOTE: You MUST use telemark skis and telemark boots--no backcountry touring (i.e., "skinny") skis/boots..
