Details

From the parking lot/trail head, hike north about a half mile before crossing Geneva Creek and Guanella Pass Rd to begin hiking northeast along Three Mile Creek. This trail climbs about 7 miles and 2900' to intersect with Rosalie Trail. We will only hike part of that distance, turning around after achieving 1000' elevation gain, at around the 2.5 mile point. The main features of Three Mile Trail include hiking alongside creek, multiple creek crossings and dense deciduous and evergreen forests.

Notes

Many Three Mile Creek crossings will be over log bridges, a few with only a single log. If you have poor balance or prefer not to risk crossing a creek on a log, you might reconsider this hike. But it is a popular hike and the water is not normally deep or swift enough to risk serious consequences.

Leader will email all hikers two days before the hike with the latest weather forecast and final details.

Starting this April, the Denver Member Initiatives Committee (DMIC) is excited to offer the Ascending Hikes series.  This program is geared towards new members and individuals seeking to gradually increase their fitness and hiking difficulty, with the goal of reaching the summit of a Colorado 14er in July 2019.  Members can sign up for any hike and do not have to sign up for the series.

The series will begin with a classification of Easy A hikes ( up to 8 miles round trip and/or 1200 ft. elevation gain) and progress to a classification of Difficult B hikes (up to 12 miles round trip and/or 2500 ft. elevation gain).  Hikes will occur on Tuesday and Saturday
