This is a day hike into a generally dry area. Bring extra water, food, snacks, and other of the 10 Essentials (see CMC web site). From the parking area, we'll follow an old road towards the mouth of Howard Canyon, which is the easternmost canyon of the four north-to-south-trending canyons in the Demaree Canyon Wilderness Study Area. Much of our day's pleasure will be gentle off-trail walking. We enter both canyons at the lower end and will walk north, on a slight uphill grade, to "see what we see."

The parking area is about a mile from the highway. High clearance four wheel drive vehicles are strongly recommended. The road is not steep, but is significantly rutted in places.

This is a joint Western Slope Group/Denver Group trip. Denver participants will come over on Friday and will "motel camp" on Friday night.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
