The class will be held in the main floor conference rooms at the American Mountaineering Center/CMC in Golden, 710 10th Street Golden 80401.  Please arrive early if you are not familiar with the area. There will not be enough time to go offsite for lunch so bring it.

Bring your daypack with items you usually carry.

NOTE:  Active leaders seeking to have their WFA costs covered under the new Support Aid for Leader Training (SALT) program, should contact Jeff Flax at before registering for this course.  You MUST first apply through the Denver Safety and Leadership committee - see for a full description of the SALT application process.  The SALT program does NOT provide reimbursements.

Date: Sunday, May 5th, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Students must attend the full, one-day course in order to complete the course. Two-year WFA e-certification is provided via e-mail to students who successfully complete the course.  Register online or through the CMC office at 303-279-3080 x2.

The course follows an abbreviated program from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute and consists of approximately 2 hours of lectures, 5 hours of practical training, a written test, and practice. This course is limited to students who have completed the ECSInstitute's Wilderness First Aid course (Wilderness First Aid: Emergency Care in Remote Locations) within the last 2.5 years. An updated 5th edition of textbook is included in the tuition for this class and will be made available to all registered students.  A test to pass the exam with a score of 80%. The entire day must be attended to complete the course.  Register on line or through the CMC office at 303-279-3080 x2.

Note: CPR/AED is not included as part of this WFA course. The Denver Group offers CPR/AED classes approximately every six weeks. See for more details on the CPR/AED course.

Note Also: The WFA certification is now for two years only. It must be renewed every two years, or through the one-day recertification/refresher class within the two-year certification period. Students who need to renew after two years will be required to retake the full two-day course.
