Prerequisite:  Members registering for this hike should have completed WTS.

This is a beautiful hike into Eagles Nest Wilderness. Just east of Vail, this hike offers amazing views of a valley, a waterfall, and an alpine lake. For most of the first half of the hike, the trail goes uphill with moderate steepness with a few flat spots. At about 2 miles, you can see Booth Falls.

After the waterfall, the trail continues to climb uphill for awhile, then descends to a wide stream.. Then, the trail heads back uphill and finally, the view opens up to the valley and a single track trail veers through open meadows.

This trail is very steep up to the falls and then after the meadow continues to be quite steep as the first part of the hike climbs 1300' in 1.9 miles to the falls..  Hike to meadow then uphill abut 750' gain over the next mile.

Next climb is to 11,120' at 4.0 miles and finally scramble over rocks and boulders to 11,rXX at 4.4 miles at the lake which is described as long with a small island.

This will be a long day.  Consider bringing extra snacks.

Leader led to meadow in 2017 so the remainder of the trip will be exploratory.

Bring strong legs and your exploratory spirit.

If you are a fast hiker this trip is probably not for you.

Date could change dependent on snow melt by July.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
