Location

The classroom lectures will be held on Saturday May 4th beginning at 8:00 AM at the CMC Building in Golden in Conference Rooms A & B.  The address is 710 10th Street, Golden.

The location of the afternoon field trip practical will be selected based on access and conditions.

The prerequisites for Trip Leader School are:

1) Be a current CMC Denver Group member.
2) Complete five (5) CMC Denver Group trips of which no more than 2 may be school field trips.
3) Wilderness First Aid certificate, or if you think you qualify for a waiver, contact Jeff Flax

Details

The Denver Trip Leader School will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM



8:00AM - 11:30AM - Class session, Conference Rooms A & B, at the CMC Building, 710 10th Street, Golden

12:00 AM - 4:00PM - Leader-In-Training, (LIT), field trip, Location will be in one of the nearby Open Space Parks such as White Ranch



The school provides a 3.5 hour lecture on topics such as CMC policies, legal and risk considerations, trip planning, group dynamics, situational awareness, the trip life cycle, the CMC ambassador role and leadership.  The LIT field practical is a 4-hour session in the field where leader candidates will engage in role modeling, working through trip scenarios and discussions, in order, to gain a better understanding of what they can expect to encounter in the field and learn ways to lead and manage a successful trip.  



Denver Group Council provides support for Trip Leader School through SALT program (SALT = Support Aid for Leader Training)

2. DS&L (Denver Safety & Leadership) reviews applications and certifies qualifications for each applicant


3. DS&L assigns pass codes for TLS and sends emails to qualified applicants
