Goliath is one of many subpeaks around Mt. Evans. We will park at the intersection of Squaw Pass Rd and the Mt Evans Road gate, just beyond Echo Lake. https://goo.gl/AF1JDj From there, the way goes immediately off trail to the top of Goliath. We will practice a little trail-marking if people are interested.

This is two miles of straight upward bushwacking, crossing the switchbacking Mt Evans Rd three times. The final approach above the road is alpine tundra. Please sign up for this trip only if you are an experienced hiker, even if new to the CMC.

Should get good views of Mt. Evans, Front Range, and Kenosha Range.

The goal is to get new members comfortable with the trip sign-up and trip-taking process. We will answer new members; practical questions and can talk as you wish about pace, clothing, gear, schools, etc. l willl write you with a weather forecast the day before. Do not assume bad weather means the trip is canceled. We only cancel if the roads are treacherous. We just try to dress appropriately. Please advise me of any medical conditions that might impact your hiking. Please bring items essential for a three-hour hike. Wear proper hiking boots, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. Traction devices, such as microspikes, probably will be necessary. (We recommend you always carry them in your pack from late fall through early summer.) Part of the trail is steep and gravel-slippery, so bring hiking poles if you use them. If you have never used hiking poles, I have a few to loan, if you like to try them.
No jeans or cotton clothing. We can talk more about all that on trip day.
No dogs, please. Look for Doggie Hikes on the CMC calendar.
