Location

Barr Lake is a major prairie reservoir which is surrounded by cottonwoods, marshes, and aquatic plants. the park is a designated wildlife refuge.  When we scouted it, we saw wonderful birds including eagles with an eaglet, many pelicans, herons. an osprey, and cormorants. We will do two out and back hikes for a possible 6 mile total. We may be so fascinated with the wildlife that we may not go that far. Please plan to be flexible as we may be short on hiking and long on nature. There are several wildlife observation stations and several board walks as well as trails and a road. There may be a naturalist with us depending on availability.
