HIKE ROUTE:  (~6.5 miles total (max))  We will carpool to and begin our hike at the Flatirons Vista Trailhead (directions above).  We will take the first (southern) portion of the loop counter-clockwise via Prairie Vista Trail from the trailhead, passing Prairie Vista Pond and continuing westward and then north on Flatirons Vista South trail.

At the ridge's cutoff point, and if the group decides time, weather, and the light will permit, we'll descend down to meet Dowdy Draw trail, below, and continue along that trail for some distance that 'feels right,' eventually backtracking to re-ascend.

Finally, we'll take the final (northern) portion of the loop counter-clockwise, heading east along the Flatirons Vista North trail, back to the parking lot.

PREPARATION & REQUIRED GEAR:  Join us for a fun, casually paced evening social hike.  As always in Spring, conditions vary widely (from GORGEOUS and dry,  to wet and VERY muddy, or even snow- and ice-covered sections on trails where Yak Trax may help).  So come prepared for any weather.  You MUST have good hiking boots or hiking shoes, a rain jacket, backup clothing in case of weather changes, and a headlamp or flashlight in order to join us safely.  LEADER'S OPTION to preclude participation, if you are unprepared.  (Remember your CMC 10 essentials!)

SNACKIES!!!!    Yes, bring a snack -- either for just yourself, or to share with the group.  We have a habit of everyone sharing their snacks with each other at a mid-hike break, wherein we pass around whatever we've each brought that week -- totally optional, of course ...)

AFTER-HIKE SOCIALIZING / MEAL:  Option for an after-hike food and drink at a nearby restaurant.

Notes

Note:  For those who might have originally signed up for it, and thus be puzzled, although this week was originally the date for Becky Ruttenberg's hike, due to other personal obligations she has withdrawn her hike and this has replaced it.  (Which is handy since blizzard weather precluded last week's hike ... :)

Completed Trip Update:  We took a shorter route than originally planned, since Diana wanted to stop for snacks at a handy boulder grouping partway down the decline toward Dowdy Draw, thus shortening the total trail length by a good bit.  But hey, everybody seemed happy, so s'all good!  :)
