Mt Orton is a minor peak in RMNP, above Sandbeach Lake with stunning vies of the Wild Basin area to the south, Mount Copeland and Alice to the West, and Meeker, Longs, Pagoda and Chief's head to the morth and east.

We start at the Sandbeach Trailhead up a steady incline to SandBeach Lake (10,002') before heading offtrail the last mile to the summit.

We meet at the CoorsTEK lot adjacent to the CMC building in Golden at 6:30am for a no later than 6:45 start.

There will still be plenty of snow at the top, so we will carry snowshoes and micro spikes for the high trails.

Please bring your 10 essentials and lunch.

And be sure to let me know if you have any medical conditions I should be aware of for safety.

This is a Bobcats trip. The Bobcats' mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially “B Difficult” and “C” hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents.  We may sponsor other activities of interest to our members, everything from bike rides to camping.  Although we have members, we don’t have dues or elections, and our trips are non-exclusive.  We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership. To join our free mailing list, write Membership Services at or call them at (303) 279-3080.
