Details

The Crag Crest Trail is a designated National Recreation Trail on the nation's largest mesa. The highlight is a 2-mile section of narrow basalt causeway with beautiful views of lakes and peaks in all directions. The trip is an out and back along the Crag Crest Trail, number 711, starting near Island Lake between Mesa and Cedaredge. The southern half of the loop is still closed indefinitely due to continued logging and clean-up of beetle-killed trees. Dogs are welcome and must be leashed.

Notes

Dogs must be leashed at all times. Owners must pack out dog's waste. For members from the Front Range, please note this trip is on the Western Slope with a 3-4 hour drive time from the Denver area to the meeting spot.
