The purposes of this overnight backpack include checking out any new backpacking gear acquired since last time we backpacked, make sure any new gear meets our needs for multi-day backpacking trips, refamiliarize ourselves with all our gear, try out a possible new backpacking dinner choice, and enjoy the company of like-minded backpackers.

We will arrive midafternoon at Reynolds Park, a Jeffco Open Space, trek with backpacks on Chickadee Trail, about 0.5 miles one-way, to Idylease Campground, set up camp, and go on a short hike before or after dinner. We will fix our own individual dinners, overnight, break camp the following morning, and go home.

Idylease Campground has no drinking water (pack in our own--recommend two liters per person), but it does have a parking area, five campsites, tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilet, firewood, animal-resistant trash and food storage bins, and non-potable water to put-out campfires.

Camp on tent pads only, no more than two tents per pad, use provided non-potable water to put out campfires -- DEAD, must be vacated by 12 noon, and cleanup campsite before leaving. Nighttime hiking is not allowed.

For emergency, call 911. Cell phone service may not be available in the campground. Leader will bring a SPOT, an emergency satellite device that sends a 911 message to the nearest sheriff dispatcher that immediate medical help or rescuse is needed and inculudes our GPS coordinates.

Camping at Reynolds Parks is by advance permit only. Trip Leader has reserved all five campsites, so we may pitch up to ten backpacking tents. All cars parked overnight must display a parking permit. Trip leader has the required parking permits in-hand for up to five cars.

CMC members new to the Club or new to backpacking are welcome.

This is not a training trip, but we will take and coach one CMC member who possesses all required gear but has not backpacked for years and would like to get started again. If you would like suggestions on what to bring and wear or how to use what you have, contact me at least a week before the trip, so we can make sure you have everything needed for a safe and fun trip.
