Triathlon Coach and Trainer: Sandi Bianchi, 303 810 0794,

This three-trail triathlon between Boulder Open Space and Eldorado Springs Canyon State Park has it all: flowers, turn of the century ruins and panoramic views. Hard to find a better hike than this on the Front Range. Triathletes will not be disappointed.

This is a relatively easy to moderate course, with two uphill sections. We'll start with a steep climb out of the gate toward Goshawk Ridge Loop, hoping to see wildflowers in bloom on our descent through the meadow before connecting with the Fowler Trail. At that point we'll turn west and follow the Fowler Trail to it's intersection with the Rattlesnake Trail. Rattlesnake will give us a gentle climb to the remnants of the Crags Hotel built in 1908 and the Continental Divide overlook. After a short loop on Rattlesnake, we'll return to the trailhead via Rattlesnake and Fowler. Mileage will be about 10 miles roundtrip with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain.

Bring water, snacks and lunch; plan for a 5- to 6-hour adventure.

8:30 to 2:30; snack stop at Red Rock Cola cabin; lots of nice flowers in Goshawk meadow and meadow around cabin.

Lunch at Continental Divide overlook.
