color:#333333">Route Description: Our adventure will begin at the Berthoud Pass ski area parking lot where we will cross Highway 40 and follow the Continental Divide Trail as it ascends steeply up to Russell Peak.  At 1.8 miles, just past Russell Peak we will turn north and follow the Mt. Nystrom Trail along a ridge.  Expect wind, snow, mud along this ridge.  At the 4 mile point, we then will leave the Mt. Nystrom trail, and cross a windy plateau and ascend to Twin Cone South off trail.  Then we will head off trail to Twin Cone North for 0.6 miles.  From North Twin Cone, we will head south along the ridge about 1 mile until we then take the Second Creek Trail down to the Broome Hut.  At the Broome Hut we will break and enjoy our International Pot Luck.  What will you bring?  Then we will continue to descend via Second Creek Trail to Highway 40 trail head.  From here we will shuttle back to Berthoud Pass ski area parking lot.
