Hagerman Peak is the 87th highest summit in Colorado.  It is located in the Elk Mountains above Aspen and has as neighbors some of Colorado's grandest 14ers including the Maroon Bells and Capitol Peak.  It can be climbed from several directions and we choose the west approach from the ghost town of Crystal (famous for the gold mill calendar photo) and a pack in to Geneva Lake.  The full route is shown here  which includes a fun drive over a rough road from Marble to the Crystal TH.  Trip elevation gain is 5300' so we break that into two days with the pack to the lake 2300'  in 4 miles (a "B" hike) and summit day 6 miles RT and 3000' gain (the "C-diff" hike).  The summit climb is steep 2+ terrain over broken rock and a climbing helmet is strongly advised.  We ask that only C or D hikers sign up for this trip.  Alternately contact a leader and tell us what you have been doing lately.  The trip is exploratory to the trip leaders although both have been to Crystal.

Larger logistics are we leave Tuesday at 8AM, drive to Crystal, and pack to Geneva Lake.  Wednesday we climb Hagerman Peak, and Thursday we pack out from the lake (a 4 mile "A" hike all down hill) and drive back to Denver.  Each trip member is responsible for their own food.  On trail bring 2 breakfast, 2 dinner, 1 lunch.  The other lunches can be consumed on the drive to/from.   We have 6 people on the trip and two vehicles so expect to pay your driver 400 miles times 33 cents/mile divided by 3 people/car = $40.  Expect an E-mail about a week prior with more trip details.
