We will start at the Wild Basin TH and the Thunder lake Trail .We will then take a short cut up the Campsite Trail that leads to several backcounrty sites and then we will rejoin the Thunder Lake Trail. From the Thunder Lake Trail we will follow the Lion Lake Trail northwest as it rises steeply in the heart of the Wild Basin. The trail meanders through the forest and marsh for 1.75 miles to Lion Lake 1.Then on to Lion lake2- a small tarn that lies on a shelf above Lion Lake1. Fom here you can see the southern face of Chiefs Head Peak. A faint trail pushes beyond the lake toward Trio Falls and Lion Lake2. Our final lake to ascend is Snowbank Lake at 11,521'. The pristine alpine lake is surrounded by short granite walls and lies on a shelf slightly higher than the bench that holds Lion Lake2. The lake lies directly east of the saddle between Mt. Alice and Chiefs Head Peak,
I was on this hike last August. I thought it was amazing so now I want to lead it.
