Location

Meeting Place:  Cabelas parking lot at 8:30 a.m.  Cabelas is located at 10670 Cabela Drive, Lone Tree 80124  (Exit 192 Ridgegate Parkway off I - 25)   Entrance to the park will require a Colorado State Park pass.  Please consider being a driver if you have a pass.  We will arrange carpools accordingly.

 

Hike Location:  Castlewood Canyon State Park is located at 2989 South Highway 83.  It is 5 miles south of Franktown.  We will be entering the east entrance which has a visitor center and restrooms.  The hike route will first go through the East Canyon Preservation Area for approx. 4 miles.  Upon completion of that section, we will then do a 2 mile loop along the western section of the park, walking along trails that lead to the ruins of the Castlewood Dam.

Details

This will be a more casual hike because of the location.  We will be walking on top of lots of rock formations, enjoying the geologic history of the park.  



There may be an optional post-hike stop.

Please advise the leader via email of any medical conditions that could affect you on this hike prior to day of hike.  An email with further details (weather, gear, etc) will be sent to those on the roster the day before the hike.
