Join the Colorado Mountain Club and La Sportiva for a CMC Speaker Series event with La Sportiva Mountain Running Ambassador, Kyle Richardson. There will be a community trail run led by Kyle Richardson before the event (all abilities welcome!), prize giveaways from the CMC, La Sportiva, and Black Diamond, and drinks during the presentation!

The "LA Freeway" is a complicated project that traverses from Long's Peak (14,259') to the Arapahos (13,501') along the Continental Divide, linking the tallest point in Rocky Mountain National Park to the tallest point in the Indian Peaks.

The route was first envisioned in the 1950s by Carl Pfiffner, who thought the project was the ultimate mountaineering adventure in the Front Range. The route requires serious climbing, with several mandatory class 4 and class 5 sections. It wasn't completed until 2002 - when Buzz Burrell completed the project with 2 massive day efforts. After completion, Buzz dubbed the route the "LA Freeway." L meaning Long's and A meaning Arapahos.

On August 1, 2018, Kyle Richardson set the fastest known time (FKT) of the LA Freeway with mind-boggling 16 hours and 29 minutes. Most would set their goal at 24 hours, with two massive 12 hour days like Buzz Burrell did back in 2002.

Proceeds benefit Colorado Mountain Club as a nonprofit.
