Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Day Hike, Saturday, June 1st

180 driving miles round trip, 13.25mi on trail, 2,475ft elevation gain

Classified as a Class C Hike: Up to 15 miles round trip or up to 3500 ft. elevation gain. (Strenuous to very strenuous physical activity. Prior experience and training is beneficial.)

Join us for a 13.25 mile hike to explore a portion of the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area, which gets its name from the thirteen thousand foot Buffalo Peaks. Conifers and aspens intermingle with rolling meadows of grasses and wildflowers surround the dark double summits of Buffalo Peaks which are two highly eroded volcanic mountains that were active some 28 million years ago. This trip is for big, open meadows, creeks and abundant beaver ponds and combines the Rich Creek Trail #616 and Tumble Creek Trail #617.
