Details

From Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, we will follow Fern Lake Trail to base of East slopes of Flattop Mtn, aka "Banana Bowl".  We will skin up slopes and ski down. Ski slope is all above treeline, so bring warm clothes and wind gear.

Bring skis--AT or telemark, snowboard, poles, skins, avalanche gear (probe, beacon, shovel).  Helmet recommended. Ski crampons might be useful if you have them.

Ski slope is about 25 degrees, suitable for intermediate skiers, but must be able to negotiate varying types of snow conditions.

No skinny skis please.

Notes

*This is a Bobcat trip.
