We take Captain Mountain Trail from Mt Evans State Wildlife Area (accessible just a few months a year) west of Evergreen into Mt Evans Wilderness on an up and down route about 4 miles to where it approaches the SE side of the NE ridge of Porcupine Hill.  There we go off trail  and ascend the ridge 3/4 mile to the summit.  The satellite image of the ridge shows heavy timber on the lower down but farther up has clear spots so while the summit is well below tree line there should be good views.  On the return we scramble up the rocky Captain Mountain which is just off trail.  This trip is exploratory to the trip leader.    Thanks to long time CMC trip leader Earl Beam for suggesting this hike.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
