Location

We'll ride one of the classic Winter Park mountain bike areas for about 12 miles. We will start at the Zoom/Flume trail head on County Road 72. The trails are classified as intermediate by the MTB Project. There's nothing too technical, but we'll encounter rocks, tree roots and water bars and a few tight turns in the trees. The plan is to go from the parking lot up Chainsaw trail to Creekside, up Creekside and down Flume, then back along Chainsaw  until we get to Broken Spade. We'll go up Broken Spade and finally down Iko to the parking lot.  These are fun single track trails with lots of twists and turns. The Iko trail parallels the more well known Zoom trail for part of the way but is a new trail just opened last year with banked turns and good flow. We'll end up with about 1,500 ft of vertical ascent.

*This is a Bobcat trip. The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially “B Difficult” and “C” hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents.  Although we have members, our trips are non-exclusive.  We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership. To join our mailing list, write or call CMC Membership Services at: office@cmc.org or (303) 279-3080.

Notes

Please bring a mountain bike, no road or cross bikes. This is a intermediate level singletrack trail so knee and elbow pads are not needed but you are welcome to wear them for extra protection against falls. Let the trip leader know if you have any medical or other issues that they should be made aware of. Bring plenty of water and some snacks. I'll email everyone the day before the trip to update on weather conditions.
