This trip will begin at Soapstone Prairie Open Space lower parking lot trailhead.  We will mountain bike the Pronghorn Loop. This is an easy intermediate single track bike ride through through the southeast corner of Soapstone Open Space. The ride will consist of riding through rolling hills in the prairie and will include some short, steep accents and a very fun long downhill decent. There is very little to no technical riding or experience involved such as rocks to cycle through, over or around. Given the moisture we've had this year, the prairie could be very pretty and lush with grasses and wildflowers. Hopefully we will see pronghorn antelope, various birds, horned toad lizards. When I've done this ride by myself, it takes me about 1.5-2 hours to do the loop with little to no breaks. I suspect it will take a bit longer with a group with some short snack and water breaks (no lunch). This is open prairie with little to no shade, so plan on at least a liter of water and sunscreen. There is no available water at Soapstone, so bring what you need. There are restroom facilities at the trailhead. After the ride we could go to Me Oh My or Odells or someplace else for lunch, snacks or refreshments.

Requirements and Recommendations.  All riders must wear a helmet. In all likelyhood you won't need it, but accidents do happen. You must bring your own water, there is none available at Soapstone Open Space. I would recommend a liter of water. You must be comfortable on your bike and be able to ride 10 miles on an easy single track trail. You must also be comfortable changing gears on your bike. Any style mountain bike would be acceptable for this ride, whether, full suspension or hardtail with front suspension. I would recommend bringing sunscreen and lather up. Also cycling shorts and gloves will make the ride more comfortable.

I've done this ride many times and it is a fun, easy ride for those wanting to try a single track mountain bike ride.
