Details

Deer Mountain is the highest point along the broad slope known as Deer Ridge, which extends west from Estes Park into RMNP. Although the mountain is flanked on all sides by forest, the summit is a broad tableland of trees interspersed with granite domes--the highest of which is located on the mountain's south side. Although not exceptionally high, Deer Mountain, 10,013 ft.,is strategically positioned to offer stunning views in all directions.

Bring water, snacks and lunch to eat at the top. Plan on a 5- to 6-hour adventure.

Possible coffee stop after the hike at Coffee on the Rocks between Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and the west side of Estes Park--quick in and out, plus good coffee!

Notes

Move meet up time to 6:30 to accomodate distance and parking congestion.
