Whenever you have to cancel out of a trip, it is your responsibility to do that online. I will see your cancellation. Here is how: Log into Membership-My trips- find this trip (all your upcoming trips are listed in date order) click -cancel.

IN ADDITION: Please TEXT me if you have to cancel the night before or the morning of. Emails will be lost in my inbox.

The goal is to get new members comfortable with the trip sign-up and trip-taking process. We will answer new members practical questions and can talk as you wish about pace, clothing, gear, schools, etc. I will write you with a weather forecast the day before. Do not assume bad weather means the trip is canceled. We only cancel if the roads are treacherous. We just try to dress appropriately.

Please advise me of any medical conditions that might impact your hiking.

Please bring those of the 10 essentials appropriate to a three-hour hike. Wear proper hiking boots, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. Traction devices, such as microspikes, may be necessary. (We recommend you always carry them in your pack from late fall through early summer.)

Part of the trail is steep and gravel-slippery, so bring hiking poles if you use them. If you have never used hiking poles, I have a few to loan, if you'd like to try them.

No jeans or cotton clothing. We can talk more about all that on trip day.

No dogs, please. Look for Doggie Hikes on the CMC calendar.

BIg snow came in during the night.  Expected more cancellations, but there was 12 brave and hardy hikers that decided to take on the elements. Changed the destination from Ofallon park to LIttle park, hiked thru Lair of bear and headed up the hill to Panaroma point.  The several inches of snow hid the thick ice layer. Micro spikes were a necessitiy. All the hikes but one had micros spikes and i a sure will purchase after this trip. Didn't get to panorama point as slow going on icy trail.

Used my document to cover highlights of the club, hiking etequette, 10 essentials, leave no trace . Some new members were experienced but all appreciated the information, which parts were presented thru out the hike. Lots of good questions and were excited about class opportunities and upgrading their hiker classification.

Maura Wright a soon to be Leader, helped Jeff and I present the information and manage the hike.
