This is an LIT hike for Richard Schiebel.  Please support him as he becomes a CMC leader.

Shaft House is the sight of a failed attempt to create a dam at this location, located in the Lost Creek Wilderness, with a great overlook of this area including some of the rock formations Lost Creek is known for.

We'll start at the Goose Creek Trailhead (8200' elevation),  the hike begins in some of the Hayman Fire burn area where aspen trees have started to fill in.  The trails quickly moves on to views of rock formations and a view of the Harmoncia Arch.  Once you reach the historic buildings, two of theee bunk houses are still standing and they look quite out of place in this wilderness.

Meet for carpooling at The Fort restaurant at 6:30 am for a no later than 6:45 start.  The Fort is on CR 8, south of Morrison, north of US 285 and west io C-470.  The trailhead is the Goose Creek Trailhead at the end of spur 558 off CR 211, about 56 miles.

Round trip mileage is 112 miles for a carpool cost to split of $34.
