Location

We will meet at The Fort restaurant near Morrison at 6:15am for a no later than 6:30am departure.

To get to the Fort parking area drive south on US 285, then exit right onto CO 8 (Morrison exit). We will park a few hundred feet past the Fort restaurant. You should see my bright yellow Nissan Xterra off to the right side of the road.

It is desirable at this point to arrange car pools which will allow some hikers to stop at the Conifer Snowpack taproom after the hike, and others to more quickly return to Denver.

Details

After a pleasant hike up the jeep road for about 4 miles we reach a saddle where we will head NE and begin the off-trail portion of the hike. The off-trail portion consists of bushwhacking, routefinding, and minor scrambling over broken terrain. Although this section can be a bit challenging, if we are diligent another 1.5 miles gets us to the summit of Farnum Peak. Our return to the parking area will follow our ascent route.

This is not an easy hike; it has sections that are off trail with boulder and dead trees impeding our journey. The group will travel at a moderate but deliberate pace. This is less a social hike and more of a goal-oriented hike. Please assess yourself accordingly.

Notes
