Altitude range:  9,300 to 10,400 ft             Distance:  4 miles, round trip out & back

Tanglewood Trail is in the Mt. Evans Wilderness.  We will hike a short portion of this trail at a very casual pace.  Trailhead at parking lot is Deer Creek Trail.  It shortly reaches the Wilderness boundary and splits into Tanglewood and Rosalie Trails.  We will pause briefly there to deposit our permit stub in the register box.  Trail follows the Tanglewood Creek and does have some water crossings mostly on bridges.  A variety of colorfull wildflowers are currently present. Also there are several waterfalls which, along with the creek, have higher flows from melt of this season's large snow accumulation.  Trail surface has some roots and rocks.

We wiil stop for lunch at our turn around point.

( Full trail is 10 miles out & back  with elevation gain 2,900 ft...But  we are only hiking 4 miles round trip.  The return portion is all downhill.)

Cancelled due to Weather forecast for thunderstorms with high lightening index starting before noon.

Rescheduling for July 31, 2019

Notes

Each person should bring plenty of water ( at least 2 quarts and consider ice cubes, or freezing some of it, and insulation ), snacks / lunch, and their 10 essentials including: personal medications and First Aid items, plus sun protections and rain gear. Also Tick repellent products are advised, since this is Tick season.  Bring trekking poles if you use them.

Please notify one of the leaders, prior to the hike, if you have any medical issues which could impact you and therefore impact this hike.

We will make a restroom stop in Bailey at the Loaf & Jug gas station.  There are no toilets at trailhead.

Be sure to check for an email update, which I will send  by about noon on Tuesday July 23rd, regarding the then current weather forecast and trail conditions or any other relevant issues.

Thunder / Lightening storms are common possibilities on Summer afternoons in the Rockies and have been frequent recently.  Additionally we are in a spell of very high temperatures.  These factors necessitate the early start time for this hike. Although, our trail altitude will have us below the tree line and give us some shade and somewhat cooler temperatures.
