Details

Byers Peak is the prominent 12,804’ peak just west of Winter Park and Fraser that offers great views of nearby peaks and valleys, as well as more sweeping views from the Gore Range to the Indian Peaks.

We will start from the Byers Peak Trailhead west of Fraser.  Here's a link to the trailhead in Google Maps:  https://goo.gl/maps/kbwZ1CpqTpx3KDT8A  From the trailhead at 9900’ near Fraser, the first 1.8 miles are on a forest service road closed to motorized vehicles.  From there, it’s about a mile and a half in the beautiful forest,  then the last 1.1 miles is on a trail above tree line on the long north ridge.  Near the summit there is a short stretch with some easy class 2 scrambling.

Each participant is expected to carry all of the 10 essentials.

Notes

This is a Bobcat trip. The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips for our mostly age 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip. To join our free mailing list and become a Bobcat write or call CMC Membership Services at office@cmc.org or (303) 279-3080.

The mileage allowance per car is 136 miles x .30 = $41.  This will be divided by the number of people in each car

There will be an optional celebratory stop after the hike for those who are interested.
